Junior Achievement Comes to Nye

Nye Lubricants, Inc. recently played host to a group of 14 high school students from the apprenticeship program at the Whaling Museum in New Bedford, MA. In collaboration with Junior Achievement, students participated in a job shadow to explore the daily workings of a small business.

Junior achievement prepares young people to succeed in a global economy through hands-on experiences. JA programs empower students to make a connection between what they learn in school and how it can be applied in the real world.

The job shadow event focused on the different aspects of Nye’s business, including our company structure, testing capabilities, manufacturing processes and marketing strategies. Students were enthusiastic when touring our testing labs, cleanrooms, and manufacturing areas.

Program Director Elaine Meredith was thrilled the day was such a success, saying, “Thank you so very much for such an outstanding job shadow experience for the Whaling Museum apprentices. Fabulous job!” Nye would also like to thank all involved in the experience. We look forward to hosting more job shadows for the South Coast community in the future.
