Meet Dewayne Massie, Nye’s Corrugator Industry Manager. Dewayne has been helping corrugator manufacturers save money and reduce downtime for almost 15 years with NyeCorr® 140 Corrugator Grease. Since Nye became a member of the FUCHS Group, Dewayne has been working closely with our colleagues at FUCHS to expand the products and services we offer the corrugator industry. In this month’s interview, we asked Dewayne a few questions about Nye’s new projects in the corrugator industry:
What is the Total Corrugator Plant Lubrication Service offered by FUCHS in collaboration with Nye Lubricants?
The Total Corrugator Plant Lubrication (TCPL) service came about as Nye sought out ways to offer lubricants and services to the Corrugator industry outside of the wet-end grease we currently supply. When Nye became a member of the FUCHS Group in 2020, FUCHS’ diverse product and service portfolio broadened what we could offer our customers. TCPL is a hands-on consultative service where corrugator lubrication experts from Nye and FUCHS work with your plant’s maintenance team to develop a customized service and lubrication package that best meets your needs. The TCPL aims to offer greases and oils for every single point in the plant that needs lubrication, as well as related services to ensure efficient operations.
Aside from quality lubricants, how does TCPL improve plant efficiency?
Because of the highly competitive business environment corrugator plants operate within, they are extremely focused on maximizing uptimes and minimizing waste while operating safely. Often when we conduct a plant audit as part of our TCPL service, we see a lot of opportunities for cost savings, waste reduction and simplifying maintenance related to the lubrication plan of a typical corrugator plant. After the audit, we are often able to reduce the number of different lubricants that will be used in the plant. By managing and ordering fewer lubricants from a single supplier, maintaining inventory becomes more efficient and the risk of using the wrong lubricant in the wrong machine is greatly reduced.
How does NyeCorr® 140 Corrugator Grease help customers cut costs?
NyeCorr®140 is considerably less expensive than similar PFPE corrugator greases offered by other suppliers, and it works just as well. This grease also provides advanced protection and friction and wear which reduces maintenance and downtime costs.
What is your favorite part about working at Nye?
My favorite part about working at Nye is the people I work with and the relationships with the people in the corrugating industry that I have developed over the last 30 years. My customers have allowed me to travel around the world. The support from my colleagues at Nye that has been a big part of my life. I wouldn’t trade my time here for anything.
